Bongaigaon district bags Government of India's prestigious award under "Samudayik Shauchalaya Abhiyan,2020" (SSA) (15 June to 15 September 2020).
Bongaigaon district secured first position in exemplary performance in the field of construction and maintenance of community toilets which is a campaign under Swachh Bharat Mission- Gramin.
SSA is one of the three important campaigns launched by the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation last year under SBM-G.
The rest two campaigns were "Swachch Sundar Samudayik Shauchalaya ( SSSS)" and "Gandagi Mukt Bharat".
Borigaon GP President will be the person receiving this award from the Ministry of Jal Sakti on a virtual event on 2nd October being the occasion of Swachch Bharat Diwas for her praiseworthy performance in SBM related works like constructing toilets in her respective village and ensure excellent maintenance thereafter.
Being the recipient of this award this year, Bongaigaon has become the one among the 26 districts of the country to be awarded by GOI under various category and the only district in Assam and entire North Eastern region to bag this prestigious award in 2020.
