Mission Sampoorna - a pilot project was launched today by Bongaigaon District Administration

As a part of the on going celebration of Third National POSHAN MAAH or NUTRITION MONTH 2020 across the country as well as in the district, 'Mission Sampoorna'-a pilot project was launched today by Bongaigaon District Administration.

Administration has launched this project with the prime objective to identify accute malnutrition among the children of the district and to take necessary steps to set them free from the problem.

Attending the formal inaugural ceremony of 'Mission Sampoorna' held today at Barshan Gaon ME School under Mulagaon GP, Hon'ble Minister, Food and Civil Supply, Govt.of Assam Sjt. Phani Bhushan Choudhury and Deputy Commissioner, Bongaigaon Dr. M.S. Lakshmi Priya, IAS, distributed 11 no.s of poultry each to the mothers of 5 no.s of children identified with moderately accute malnutrition for farming in order to cater to availability of nutritious food resources.

It is expected that the mothers would be able to provide adequate amount of nutrition to their children by the produced eggs and at the same time they will also be able to arrange other nutritious supplements like milk etc.by the earnings made from the extra production of eggs.

A food fair cum exhibition on nutritious food items specially beneficial for children, pregnant women and lactating mothers was also organised at the event.

Besides, in order to ensure proper and adequate nutrition among children through setting up Nutri-Gardens at all schools, and Anganwadi Kendras, a plantation drive was also taken up at the event today.
