The 1st Bongaigaon Youth Conclave was held on 19th December, 2021 at Golden Jubilee Gate of Bongaigaon College. Conceptualized by The East Story with Bongaigaon College as co-host and Bongaigaon Police as the partner, the conclave, a humdinger of an event in the region offered an intellectual space to the youths in acclimatizing themselves with current socio-political trend.

The 1st Bongaigaon Youth Conclave was held on 19th December, 2021.

With the aim of giving impetus to critical thinking and igniting the young minds, the first ever Bongaigaon Youth Conclave hosted four brainstorming sessions on the pertinent issues by inviting prominent personalities, politician, student leaders, district administrator and the law enforcement personnel as panelists.

The first session was held on the theme ‘Bongaigaon @ 2031’ which was graced by the 8th time MLA of Bongaigaon Constituency Shri Phani Bhusan Choudhury, DC of Bongaigaon, Dr. MS Lakshmi Priya, Executive Officer, Bongaigaon Municipality, Shri Puroshottam Das and Shri Hemanta Kr. Sharma, resident Editor, Asomiya Pratidin and a localite as panelists. The honourable MLA shared the blueprint of his vision for Bongaigaon at 2031 with the audience. The DC expressed her desire to see at least one youth from Bongaigaon join civil service in next decade for which she shared her vision of mentoring youths of Bongaigaon for UPSC by organizing coaching for the aspirants. Shri Puroshottam Das as a town planner gave a futuristic vision of transforming Bongaigaon in terms of population and infrastructure. Hemanta Kr. Sharma as a localite raised a demand of establishing a Dental College in the district.

The second session was held on the theme of ‘Youth & Police’ where the Additional Superintendent of Police, Shri Swapneel Deka, Addl. S.P, Smti. Luna Sonowal and noted criminal lawyer Shri Bijoy Choudhury formed a panel. The panel in an interactive session broke the myth of Police as a force to be feared and explained the corrective measures within the organization in better public relation.

The third session of the conclave was on the theme of ‘Youth in Politics’ in which the promising student leaders of Bongaigaon formed a panel. Rejaul Karim Sarkar, President, AAMSU Bongaigaon Unit, Rupam Kanti Das, Ex-President, Bongaigaon AASU and Gakul Barman, Chief Executive Member of Kamatapur Autonomous Council spoke on the importance of youths joining politics for building a better future of the nation.

The conclave signed off with a melodious session ‘Candid with Rupam’. Rupam Bhuyan, a noted singer-campaigner charmed the audience with his mellifluous voice. The student participants, local community expressed their gratitude to the youth conclave team for organizing such a innovative and intellectual event and raised their demand to make it an annual event. The conclave also had a bookstall for booklovers and an art and craft exhibition-cum-sale stall for the interested ones as its highlights. The event was sponsored by Jharna Jal & AIM Academy Bongaigaon and co-sponsored by International Academy of Scholars, SBI and Jolly Dine Restaurant.
