Bongaigaon Times: Bongaigaon : 4th September 2025 : Ahead of the upcoming Durga Puja celebrations, the Bongaigaon district administration held a meeting today with various Puja Committees to ensure smooth conduct of the festival.

The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Navadeep Pathak at the DC office conference hall, in the presence of Superintendent of Police Mohanlal Meena, Additional SP Sabita Das, Sub-divisional Police Officer Anup Bora, Assistant Commissioner Murchana Malakar, and other officials.

Deputy Commissioner Navadeep Pathak urged the Puja Committees to maintain cleanliness, obtain safety clearance certificates for pandals from the Public Works Department and APDCL, appoint an adequate number of volunteers, arrange separate entry and exit routes for men and women, display emergency contact numbers prominently near pandals, and keep ambulances ready.

He also directed that the application for Puja permission must mention that immersion of Goddess Durga idols will be completed between 11:00 AM and 7:00 PM. Furthermore, Puja Committees were instructed to ensure that pandals do not obstruct public roads or hinder the movement of people.

Superintendent of Police Mohanlal Meena advised committees to install sufficient CCTV cameras so that culprits can be easily identified in case of any untoward incident.

Fire & Emergency Services Officer Dayal Chakraborty urged committees to keep fire safety equipment such as sand, water, and fire extinguishers ready at pandals, and to ensure that entry routes are wide enough for fire tenders to pass through in case of emergencies.

Representatives from all Durga Puja Committees of Bongaigaon district attended the meeting.
