Bongaigaon, March 10: The District Health Society, Bongaigaon, under the National Health Mission (NHM), successfully organised the District-Level ASHA Convention 2025–26 on March 10 at Barpara Public Field.

The programme aimed to recognise the dedicated services of ASHA workers and strengthen community health initiatives across the district. Bongaigaon Deputy Commissioner Dibakar Nath attended the event as the Chief Guest, while the programme was presided over by Dr. Gopal Ch. Ray, Joint Director of Health Services.

Speaking on the occasion, the dignitaries highlighted the crucial role played by ASHA workers and supervisors in strengthening grassroots healthcare services and improving maternal and child health indicators in the district.

Several health officials were present at the event, including District Surveillance Officer Dr. B. Ch. Sarkar, SDM&HO (School Health) Dr. H. D. Sarkar, SDM&HO (North Salmara) Dr. Mustafijur Rahman, SDM&HO (Srijangram) Dr. B. B. Medhi, SDM&HO (Bongaigaon) Dr. A. Saraniya, and SDM&HO (Mankapur) Dr. Kalyan Ray, along with other officials and healthcare workers.

During the programme, ASHA workers shared their experiences and contributions towards improving community healthcare services. Appreciation certificates and mementos were distributed to all ASHA workers in recognition of their efforts. The “ASHA Kiran” cheque distribution programme was also conducted to provide death benefits and support to the families of ASHA workers.

The event also featured a felicitation ceremony for the Greater Bongaigaon Press Club for its support in disseminating health-related information to the public. Additionally, NQAS-certified AMAs (Ayushman Arogya Mandirs) were felicitated for achieving quality standards in healthcare services.

The convention included cultural performances and a comedy programme presented by ASHA workers, showcasing their talents beyond healthcare services. The event concluded with a musical performance by Sagarika Pathak, BCM of Srijangram.

Health department officials expressed appreciation for the continuous dedication of ASHA workers, acknowledging their vital role in strengthening the public health system and improving community health across Bongaigaon district.
