A Person from Bongaigaon sent to jail for allegedly sexually assaulting a college student at Barpara

Bongaigaon Judicial court today sent a man to jail for allegedly sexually assaulting a college student at Barpara in Bongaigaon. As per the report, Arup Bhagwati, a retired employee of the irrigation department in Barpara, Bongaigaon, was accused of sexually assaulting a female student of a college who is a tenant of his house.

An unpleasant atmosphere is created at night when the student informs her friends. Bongaigaon police arrived around 3:00 am and nabbed the accused and conducted a medical examination. The girl lodged an FIR at Bongaigaon Sadar police station the next morning. The police registered a case (No. 374/23) and the court sent Bhagwati to jail.

Meanwhile, Arup Bhagwati's family also lodged an FIR at the police station against the same girl alleging extortion and blackmailing. As per the report, tenants in the house were allegedly involved in immoral activities. According to the family members, the student has been demanding money from retired Arup Bhagwati on various occasions.
