Bongaigaon Times: Bongaigaon : 2nd August 2025 : The District Health Society, Bongaigaon, ceremoniously inaugurated the District-Level World Breastfeeding Week 2025 at Bongaigaon BPHC today, with the theme “Invest in breastfeeding, invest in the future.” This initiative aims to promote, protect, and support breastfeeding practices for better health outcomes among infants and mothers.
The event was graced by the presence of i/c Joint DHS, SDM&HO Bongaigaon, i/c Medical Officer of Khagarpur, District Media Expert (DME), NRC Dietician from Bongaigaon Civil Hospital, BPM, BCM, BAM, BCO-RBSK, BDM, Monitoring & Immunization staff, ASHA Supervisors, ANMs, ASHAs, and members of the general public.
During the program, speakers highlighted the crucial role of breastfeeding in reducing child mortality and enhancing maternal well-being. They stressed the importance of early initiation of breastfeeding within the first hour of birth and exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months. The event also included health talks, community engagement, and information dissemination on breastfeeding benefits and support mechanisms.
The District Health Society reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that every mother receives the necessary support and guidance for successful breastfeeding, contributing to the overall goal of improved child and maternal health in the district.
