Aaranyak’s Didom Daimari from Udalguri invited to 'At Home' at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Independence Day

Guwahati, August 1: In a heart-warming recognition to grassroots conservation efforts, Didom Daimari, an Aaranyak team member and community conservationist from Angarajuli village at Bhairabkunda in Udalguri district of Assam, has been invited to attend the prestigious 'At Home' reception hosted by the President of India at Rashtrapati Bhavan on the occasion of the Independence Day.

Currently serving with Aaranyak as a Field Coordinator, Daimari has been actively involved in community-based conservation initiatives across the Bhairabkunda landscape. With over a decade of grassroots conservation experience, he has worked closely with the Dhansiri Forest Division of the Bodoland Territorial Council Forest Department of Assam. He is also an active member of the Dhansiri–Sikaridanga Joint Forest Management Committee (JFMC), and has provided on-ground conservation support to several organisations and individuals.

Over the years, he has played a key role in habitat enhancement, human-elephant conflict mitigation, wildlife conservation, community mobilisation, environmental education, nature guiding and eco-tourism promotion. His dedication has earned him recognition as one of the leading community conservation champions in the Bhairabkunda landscape.

Beyond conservation, Daimari is also an eco-tourism guide certified by BTC Tourism and Assam Tourism and currently serves as the President of the Bhairabkunda Eco-Tourism and Conservation Society.

He also leads the Angarajuli Homestay Committee, promoting responsible nature-based tourism that showcases the region's rich biodiversity while creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for local communities.

The invitation to the Presidential 'At Home' reception is construed as a recognition of Daimari's unwavering commitment to conservation and reflects the invaluable contribution of grassroots conservation leaders in protecting forests, restoring wildlife habitats and promoting sustainable livelihoods.
