Bongaigaon, August 11: Security measures have been intensified across Bongaigaon district ahead of Independence Day, with the district administration and police stepping up surveillance to prevent any untoward or anti-social activities.
As part of the heightened security arrangements, a large team of Bongaigaon Police, led by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Numal Mahatta, conducted extensive checking of vehicles at Rakhaldubi on the National Highway. Two-wheelers, four-wheelers and other suspicious vehicles were thoroughly inspected during the operation.
The special security measures have been undertaken to ensure that no untoward or disruptive activities take place in the district during the Independence Day celebrations.
According to SSP Numal Mahatta, special naka-checking arrangements have been put in place at various entry and exit points of the district. Additional security measures have also been deployed at important locations and areas witnessing large public gatherings.
The SSP appealed to the people of Bongaigaon to remain vigilant and immediately inform the nearest police station if they notice any suspicious person or activity.
He further stated that similar checking and security operations will continue across the district in the coming days as part of the Independence Day security preparedness.
The Bongaigaon Police and district administration have urged the public to cooperate with the security personnel to ensure a safe and peaceful Independence Day celebration.
