CM Himanta Biswa Sarma distributes 400 appointed letters to new medical officers

Guwahati: 18th June 2025: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma recently handed over the appointment letters to 400 newly selected doctors at an event in Bhangagarh,GMCH.


He congratulated the recruits and encouraged them to work with honesty, care, and dedication. The government aims to improve Assam's healthcare system by establishing 29 new medical colleges by 2030, addressing the shortage of doctors in cities and villages.

The Chief Minister highlighted efforts to enhance primary healthcare through Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, which provide basic health services at the local level. He emphasised the importance of staffing healthcare facilities with doctors, nurses, and support workers to ensure timely and quality treatment.

Dr. Sarma noted that the 400 new doctors would be deployed to areas with the greatest need, focusing on improving services for mothers and children. He encouraged the latest recruits to treat patients with kindness and responsibility, prioritising patients.
