Guwahati, October 2: Marking the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the RUPP Foundation celebrated Gandhi Jayanti with the children of Jibonalay Azara Boys Home on October 2, bringing together creativity, reflection and environmental action.
The programme was attended by 15 children of Jibonalay Azara Boys Home, along with staff members, RUPP Foundation team members and volunteers. An art competition was organised for the children, conducted by Zubin Muktiar, providing them an opportunity to express their thoughts and creativity through art.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Prasanna Mazumder spoke about Mahatma Gandhi’s principles, his contribution to India’s freedom movement and the continuing relevance of his values in everyday life. He encouraged the children to embrace values such as truth, simplicity, compassion and responsibility.
Adding a green dimension to the celebration, the participants also took part in a plantation drive, planting fruit-bearing saplings and reinforcing the message of environmental responsibility and care for nature.
The programme was coordinated by RUPP Foundation team members Hriday Jyoti Ojha, Jaydip Phukan, Biju Bora, Biki Tirua and Harish Barman, along with volunteers Abhishek Deka, Rituraj Kalita and Doriyol Bora.
