A Golden Langur got injured due to an accident happened on National Highway at 10.30 AM in Deohati area near Abhayapuri Bongaigaon.
The Deputy Commissioner, Bongaigaon, Dr. M.S. Lakshmi Priya, IAS and the DPM, NHM, Bongaigoan reached the spot after a few minutes of the incident. They were on their way back after inspecting vaccination programs by Health Department in North Salmara Sub-division area.
The forest department officials were immediately notified. The forest department officials after inspecting the injury took the golden langur to Wild Life Rescue Centre, Saraikhola, BTAD for better treatment.
The district administration along with the district Forest department has taken a number of steps for the safe movements of the golden langurs in the district. These includes-
* Signboards has been set-up on the wild animal (Golden langur) corridor between Hapachara and Tulungiya on the NH-117 directing vehicle drivers to slow their vehicles at those points.
* Plan has been finalized by NHIDCL for constructing over-head ladder path at the above-mentioned spots for safe crossing of Golden langurs during construction of the new highway road at the two spots identified by joint verification with forest officials. The spots are near Hapachara Beat Office and near Ujan Rabhapara.
* The overhead electricity wires near the Kakoijana reserve forest, the main habitat of the Golden langurs, were insulated to protect the langurs from electric shocks.

However, after today’s incident a committee was set up the Deputy Commissioner, Bongaigaon to suggest measures for prevention of such incidents in future.
The committee was headed by the DDC, Bongaigaon and included officials from the Forest Department, Transport Department and the PWD. In its first meeting today, the committee suggested the following.
Forest Department to set-up signboards prominently at all locations on the NH-117 for control of vehicle speed in spots where crossing of golden langur takes place.
As the construction of the overhead ladder path is going to be delayed, as an immediate step, NHIDCL is to construct rumble-strips consisting of least 12 speed-breakers on both side of the road at the two spots earlier identified by joint verification.
As today’s accident took place at a different location from the animal corridors, Forest Department shall explore new locations on the NH and other main roads where such animal corridors are required for safe crossing of golden langurs.

উক্ত কমিটীৰ আজি প্ৰথমখন সভাত কেইটামান পৰামৰ্শ আগবঢ়ায়। সেইমতে বন বিভাগে সোণালী বান্দৰে পথ অতিক্ৰম কৰা স্থানসমূহত চাইনবোৰ্ড লগাব যাতে গাড়ীচালকসকলে সেই ঠাইখিনিত গাড়ী লাহে লাহে চলায়। তদুপৰি যিহেতু মুৰৰ ওপৰেৰে যাব পৰাকৈ জখলা পথ বনাওঁতে কিছু পলম হ'ব গতিকে তৎকালীন ব্যৱস্থা হিচাপে সদ্যহতে ৰাষ্ট্ৰীয় ঘাইপথ আৰু আন্তৰ্গাথঁনি উন্নয়ন নিগমে উক্ত ঠাইত ১২ টা গতি ৰোধক থকাকৈ ৰাম্বল ষ্ট্ৰীপ বনাব লাগিব।
আজিৰ ঘটনাটো যিহেতু বন্যপ্ৰাণী( সোণালী বান্দৰ) কৰিডৰৰ বাহিৰে বেলেগ ঠাইত সংঘটিত হৈছে গতিকে বন বিভাগে সোণালী বান্দৰৰ নতুন বিচৰণস্থলী চিনাক্ত কৰি এইবিলাকৰ সুৰক্ষিত বিচৰণ নিশ্চিত কৰিব লাগিব।
কমিটীখনৰ এই পৰামৰ্শসমূহ জিলা উপায়ুক্তগৰাকীয়ে সোণালী বান্দৰৰ সুৰক্ষাৰ বাবে সংশ্লিষ্ট বিভাগসমূহক যথাসম্ভৱ সোনকালে বাস্তবায়িত কৰিবলৈ নিৰ্দেশ দিয়ে।
