In an attempt to empower medical laboratories for quality compliance, The Assam Chapter of the Foundation of Quality India was inaugurated on Friday at a function held in Guwahati.
Dr. Teresa Biswas Guha and Dr. Moushumi Saikia were entrusted with the role of Directors of the organization in Assam. several other doctors were also present on the occasion.
Along with setting up the Assam Chapter of the organization, a four-day training program also got underway on the international standard ISO 15189:2022, with several laboratory professionals in attendance. The training was imparted by the CEO, FQI Bengaluru, Dr. Thuppil Venkatesh, and the State Director, FQI Tamil Nadu, Dr. M. Parthiban. In the course of the training, Dr. Thuppil Venkatesh said that since laboratory sciences are very dynamic and ever-changing, regular orientation courses are required for the professionals to keep track of the latest innovations for the benefit of the patients.
FQI is a non-profit organization established way back in March 2013. The organization is mandated to organize and conduct various types of certificate programs on the latest laboratory developments for medical laboratory professionals. It has its headquarters in Bengaluru.FQI has trained more than 25,000 laboratory professionals on the development of quality management systems as per international standards. Besides India, FQI has been imparting training programs in countries like Nepal, Bangladesh, the Maldives, Iraq, etc.
